Myoclonus????

Hi I'm Kimberly:

I have a 4 yr. old child whose body immediately starts to convulse when I put her down for a nap or to sleep for the night.  Needless to say, I am very, very concerned.  I have an appt with a neurologist in about three weeks, but would kind of like the heads up as to what could be possibly going on.  Her symptoms mimic a severe seizure.  These attacks scare me half to death.  They just started occurring about 3 to 4 days ago.  The symptoms are:

1) Immediately when she lies down on her bed, particulary on her stomach her whole body starts to convulse uncontrollably.  I noticed that her "buttocks" tighten, her shoulders protrude upwards, and I hear sort of a moan coming from her, and her eyes seems to be glazed over.

2) When I call her name, in the early stages of sleep, she immediately sits up and says: "yes, mommy, what do you want?"  As if she doesn't realize that her body was just convulsing uncontrollably.

3)  After falling into a deep sleep about 10 mins. later, I notice that the convulsions stop completely until it's time for her to awaken, then they start again.

4)  I tried given her Tylenol (acetametophen), it seemed to help her to relax faster and to fall asleep quicker so that the convulsions will stop.

Please help.  Any advice will be helpful.  I'm just really, really concerned and hope that this is not an underlying condition for something more serious. Thanks. Kimberly
