Myoclonus

Hi.  The issue that brings me here is myoclonus/muscle twitching.  It started with my thumb.  After a few weeks, it progressed to my right ear.  I thought I had water in there, because it sounded like rumbling.  I realized it was not water, and my symptoms were exactly that of people having muscle spasms within the ear.  Now my legs are affected.  The right thumb and right ear are still doing it intermittently, and the legs have joined the fun.  I'm not easily unnerved, but this is a bit concerning to me.

I was diagnosed with psoriatic arthritis in 2008, and have symptoms of Lupus (malar rash, photosensitivity), but aside from a 1:160 ANA and elevated ESR and C4, the other tests were negative.  I also have restless legs, diagnosed when I was only 10 years old (31 now), and DDD affecting L3, L4, L5, and S1.  I mention these things since I don't know whether any of it may or may not be related.

I know there are probably lots of neurological issues that can cause twitching, but is there a direction I should be going?  Does this fit any pattern?

Thank you.

Yeah, I suppose I should see my rheumatologist again.  Thank you for the input.

If you can't get hold of a rheumatologist, maybe you should go get checked out by a neurologist who may find another cause of the myoclonic jerks. Take care

I'm not too sure what the normal range for ANA  is but everything that you mention seems to point towards Lupus. Elevated ESR and C4 should already be ringing alarm bells especially because you have the "classic" rash and photosensitivity. Lupus also attacks the joints so that could account for psoriatic arthritis and the DDD. It seems like it may be spreading to your central nervous system now. I would suggest that you see a rheumatologist as soon as possible
