Myopathy with walking problems

I've been recently diagnosed with small fiber neuropathy and myopathy. I have worst weakness in my thighs and biceps. The Rt leg has affected my walk at times, which is the weakest. It feels like my knee  (the issue is not my knee) is locked and hyper extended when I walk at times. This comes and goes without much warning. The faster I work, the worst it gets and the slower my speed the easier it gets. Sometimes I can't even walk fast  even if I try. I had it so worst after my first Zumba fitness prior to my diagnosis which ended me in ER. My legs get tired climbing up the steps  ( with shortness of breath) as well as cramps and aches  ( pain not felt by touching) like I've been running all day, but have not. Is this a usual pattern of myopathy to experience various gait problems throughout the day?  Thanks

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi!
I am sorry to hear about your medical problems.  Yes, gait issues can come up due to neuropathy or myopathy. This happens due to knee locking caused by misalignment of the bones and muscles around the knee. Also, with neuropathy, the sensations associated with walking decrease. This also affects the gait. Muscles and leg cramps can also be due to dehydration, electrolyte imbalance, intermittent claudication due to clots/thrombus in blood vessels, or due to muscle fatigue. I suggest you consult your doctor to rule out these causes. Also, please consult a physiotherapist to strengthen the muscles of your limbs.
Hope this helps. Take care!
