Neck Pain and MRI

by kitkatfla103, Oct 25, 2007 12:59PM
I was hit by an idiot driver who was speeding and traveling about 55 - 60 mph driving.  I suffer shooting pains in my arm, my neck feels like it has been stretched for 50 miles, lower back soreness and stiffness, neck feels like it is on fire and I can barely turn it to the right.  I drop glasses out of my hand when my fingers get numb and I was referred to a doctor for a MRI. I am a very active woman who rarely takes an asprin and my right side where I was hit has been causing me a loss of sleep and fatigue.
I have no clue what this means - can you give me a hint? What exercises can I do to improve muscle around the disc?  I do not want surgery - I want to approach this in a homeopathic way with exercies and routines to minimize the discomfort.

Here are the Findings:
There is diffuse straightening of the epected cervical lordosis suggesting musculoligamentous injury or sprain. There is some disc space narrowing at C2-3 to C5-6. The C4-5 level a braod disc buldge is present. A central disc protrusion indents the thecal sac and approaches the cervical cord.  Bilateral moderal forminal narrowing is present. The C5-6 level shows a large broad disc buldge.  The C6-7 level shows a broad disc bulging which indents the thecal sac.  The C7-T has a right side disc protrusion and a central disc protrusion at C5-6. Clinical correlation is reccomended regarinding associated radiculopathies.

Hi.

Your MRI findings suggest disc bulging (disc herniation) as well as central disc protrusion at the cervical spine level which is most likely causing your symptoms.

Since you do not want drugs and surgery for the condition, your alternatives include physical therapy, as well as heat baths to relieve some of the pain.  It is important to consult a neurologist and physical therapist to determine what exercise can help and what can aggravate your symptoms.

Hope this helps.
