Neck Problem?

I started having sharp shooting pain in my cheeks that were not consistent about one month ago.  At first I thought I might have a cavity, but I went to the dentist and he assured me everything was fine. Then I started to feel as my face was a bit weaker and number. I can feel it if I lightly scratch my face, but there is definitely a loss of sensation there. Also, I feel sort of off balance whenever I am walking/ upright. I started seeing a chiropractor who took some x-rays of my neck. She said that it looked like I had been in a car accident, but I have not. I cannot remember doing anything that could cause injury.  I also had an MRI  of the head and examination and will be speaking with the neurologist in a week. Is it possible for whiplash to cause these neurological symptoms? Should I see anyone else about my neck? If so, who should I speak with?
