Neck pain and headaches

Neck pain and headaches

I am being followed for possbile demylinating lesions in the brain.  My recent cervical MRI shows increasing disk bulge; C4-C5 w/10 mm bulge and C5-C6 with a 9 mm bulge.  My L5-S1 has a broad-based disk bulge with postrior annular fissure with no canal or foraminal stenosis.

As I am intolerant to heat, I wanted to continue exercising with a reumbant bike inside.  I was doing fairly well, up to 10 miles daily in 45 minutes.  However, recently this has caused migraine-type headaches 10/10 in severity that stem from the muscles in my neck.  It is almost like my neck muscles do not want to support my head.  Also, when I sleep at night my lower back hurts with pain radiating down my legs.  I also notice this with pivot/shift movements such as bending down to unload dishwasher, and upon rising up and pivoting radiation of pain down my leg.  This pain, both awake and in bed can be electrical in sensation, sharp and 8/10 but short in duration.

I am questioning something like epidural steroid injections or triggerpoint injections for the neck - so I might continue exercising (perhaps at a reduced rate) but am also concerned about LBP with radiation in legs.  Currently trying different mattresses in the house for comfort.  Having trouble arising and attaining straight posture and requiring 1/2 to 1 Vicoprofen in the a.m. to begin to move with some sense of normalcy.  Any suggestions would be appreciated.  I do not wish to be on the Skelaxin, Baclofen, Vicoprofen, Midrin that have been prescribed to control pain and HA.  Thank you.

Good luck

Has your doctor mentioned anything about arthritis in your neck or other areas of your C-spine or L-spine?  I have arthritis in my neck and it causes headaches and pain in the neck to the middle of my back.  This condition can also affect the arms/hands/legs with tingling, numbness, etc....

I just found out that I have it about a month ago. Good luck.
