Neck pain and spasms

Neck pain and spasms

For the past 5 months i've been expierencing severe neck pain and spasms into the base of the skull.I recently had an MRI.My chiropractor wouldnt tell me much other then i had a cyst at the base of the skull and it might be hitting nerve(s).He told me to consult my pcp because this was not his field and didnt know much about it.This pain wakes me out of a sound sleep and i have to grab my head and keep it towards the floor till the spasms/pain passes.I walk around most of the day doing the samething. After these spasms/pain is done throbbing i get severe headaches out of it.Some in the front of my head. Some all over my head and some just in the back of my head.Sometimes i feel like im in a dream state even though im aware of my surroundings.I feel spacey, weak, i just feel strange all over.Muscle relaxers and pain meds do nothing.Sometimes increases the spasms/pain.Sometimes i feel very sick to my stomache from them.I sometimes scream when the spams/pain hit because its so painful.Do you have any idea what this might be and how did i get it????Thanks Lori

Have you read up on Spasmodic Torticollis?  Do you have twisting of
your head to the side, front, or back?

I just read what the Spasmodic Torticollis is and i dont think thats what this is.I have movement all the way around with no problem. The MRI i had picked up a cyst at the base of the skull.I called my pcp this morning and waiting for a call back.I am going to tell him i want to see a specialist for this problem and get some answers. The spasms/pain hits only at the base of the skull, where the hairline is and into the head.My neck itself seems ok but that dont mean it is i suppose.
