My daughter is 13 months old and has been diagnosed with suffering from chronic abdominal seizures. She is on her 4th round of siezure meds and we are making NO progress. She has stalled in her physical growth according to the doctor because she has been pulling up and walking along furniture since 9 months and has not progressed. Her feet twist and she has very minimal balance. We were reffered to Duke university in NC because her neurologist feels that we need further help. She is currently taking Topomax (topamaxTopamax Topamax sprinkle) adn Tripeptal. She is still suffering from chronic abdominal seizues. Today her sitter counted 15 in a two hour period. About two weeks ago she had 10 in 2 hours. She has large dark circles under her eyes and is in the 20th percentile for her weight. We have had difficulty getting her to gain weigth. She has had 2 EEG's and 1 MRI. The only thing that showed up on the EEG's was the video recording of the seizures but the brain activity seemed normalNormal saline flush. Her nurologist said that this could happen and has made it clearClear by design Clear eyes Clear eyes acr Clear eyes clr Clear-atadine Clear-atadine children's that he is certain that she is suffering from acuteAcute bilateral obstructive uropathy Acute bronchitis Acute cerebellar ataxia Acute cholecystitis (gallstones) Acute cytomegalovirus (cmv) infection Acute gouty arthritis Acute hiv infection Acute kidney failure Acute lymphocytic leukemia (all) Acute lymphocytic leukemia - photomicrograph Acute pancreatitis abdominal seizures. I need anyones advise!! Please!!! I don't know what to do and I feel like I'm running circles. Recently the nurologist increased her medication but accidently increased the wrong one. She had taken to much Trileptal for about a week and a half. I know that this confusion in her meds happened b/c she has been switched many times over the last 6 months and he got her meds mixed up when he told me to increase her dose. Does anyone know of someone I could call to get advise about her seizures or possible treatment. I also wanted to know if anyone else is going through all of these meds without success. Please help. Thanks, Erin
Seizures decrease with age.
The dark circles under her eyes are due to the tiredness and the effort she is going throrough.
The best part is EEG shows that the brain activity is normal, this will give you a breather as her mental growth will not be disturbed.
As per her physical growth it will stabilize as her siezures decrease.
Do not get stressed up and take care of your daughter and follow the neurologist adivse and have faith in the treatment as it will take sometimes couple of years to stabilize these type of conditions.
Take care and come back to us if you face further difficulties and remember there is always a second opinion and you are free to consult another neirologist.
