Need Help understanding MRI of Brain

On April 4th of this year I had for the first time in sixteen years had a seizure.  This time was different in that I had five seizures in about a hour and a half time.  Each time the seizures got worse.  First one, I blacked out, second I blacked out with jaw clinching, eye rolling, and limb tension.  Third was a little worse.  By the time the last one came, My entire body tensed and curled, including eye rolling and jaw clinching, and body jerking.  Of course I was at the ER for the fourth and fifth, the third in ambulance via ER.  Seizures were not due to head trauma.  CT scan was clear of concussion. (my first seizure I blacked out from standing position and hit my head off tiles in a business).  My MRI was done thirteen days after.  My neurologist told me of my results but I need it explained in Layman's terms.

The report reads:
IMPRESSION:    1 Nonspecific subcentimeter signal abnormalities in the posterior aspect of the frontal lobe white matter bilaterally.
2  No signal abnormality or mass in the region of the hippocampi or evidence of an enhancing intracranial mass.
3  Mininmal fluid in a left mastoid air cell inferiorly and evidence of a subcentimeter cyst or polyp in the left maxillary antrum.

I HAVE HAS HEADACHES RANGING IN SEVERITY SINCE THE INCIDENT.  I was put on dylantin  for the seizures and recently have been put on gabapentin.  Since on the gabapentin, the headaches dulled somewhat, and made the headache pain is more localized in the brow and forehead area.  The headache ranges from throbbing to piercing.  Also memory is somewhat effected, concentration is sometimes impossible, and sometimes I'm in an irritable mood (for no real reason).  EEG was done, but results not reviewed yet with neurologist.

Any help in clarifying this for me is greatly appreciated.

Hi there.

Your MRI has shown very non-specific results, meaning, that no definitive diagnosis can be derived from it.  The subcentimeter signal abnormalities does not really tell us something definitive.  I believe that this MRI was requested just to rule out the presence of anatomic abnormalities such as brain tumors or hydrocephalus.  Your headaches are also very difficult to attribute to these MRI findings and are probably of physiologic causes (such as migraine).  The EEG would give us more answers regarding the nature or cause of the seizures.  I hope that everything will get clear once the EEG is read. For now I suggest that you continue with the medications and I hope that the seizures will not recur.  Regards and God bless.
