EXAMINATION:
MRI LUMBAR SPINE
HISTORY:
Radiculopathy, low back pain
COMPARISON:
None
TECHNIQUE:
Lumbar spine protocol without contrast
FINDINGS:
Lumbar vertebrae are normally formed, aligned and intact
There is evidence of disc desiccation with an annular tear at L4-L5
and L5-S1. Intervertebral discs are otherwise normal height and
hydration
Normal marrow
Conus medullaris and cauda equina are unremarkable
Normal caliber aorta
Paraspinal musculature normal bulk and signal
L1-L2: Right greater than left facet joint arthropathy with ligament
of flavum hypertrophy, resulting in mild right-sided neural foraminal
narrowing
L2-L3: Right greater than left facet joint arthropathy with ligamentum
flavum hypertrophy, resulting in mild right neuroforaminal narrowing
L3-L4: Right greater than left facet joint arthropathy with ligamentum
flavum hypertrophy, resulting mild right-sided neural foraminal
narrowing
L4-L5: Broad-based disc bulge with right greater than left facet joint
arthropathy, resulting in mild bilateral neuroforaminal narrowing
L5-S1: Mild broad-based disc bulge resulting in mild left
neuroforaminal narrowing
IMPRESSION:
Mild degenerative changes throughout the lumbar spine.
