Need help

  : : Topic Area: Lyme
: : : Thanks for reading my message.
: : : I've posted a couple of messages over the past few weeks and just need a little more help.
: : : I have had ongoing symptoms for about a year and a half with no end in sight or specific diagnosis.  My problem started out with what I thought was a yeast infection, confirmed by my gyno.  I was given Diflucan and the infection was gone within a week but a subsequent muscle burning developed down the tops of my thighs.  From there, burning and various sensations spread from head to toe, but primarily in my arms and legs.  My current symptoms are as follows:
: : : * Burning muscle pain in arms and legs, very tender in those areas too
: : : * Muscle twitching in arms and legs
: : : * Kind of all over "raw" or sunburned/irritated skin sensation, itching helps
: : : * Very sore spot in middle of my spine (have slight curve mid-spine)
  : : : * Skin (especially face) reddens easily
: : : * Hands and feet almost always cold, but from time to time get very red and hot
  : : : * Joint stiffenss/soreness, especially neck, hands
: : : * Symptoms get better or worse from day to day, but always worse at night
: : : I have been tested for Lupus, Lyme (twice), HIV (twice), neurological tests including MRI of brain and neck, EMG, complete allergy testing, had several CBCs, the usual gyno. exams.  Everything to this point has been normal.
: : : My current doctor (a Rheum. doc.) has no idea what I have.  Says its a possible reaction to the Diflucan or Fibromyalgia.  I am currently taking 30mg. of Amitriptilin per night (started at 10 and grad. increased to 30).  I've been on it for over a year now.  I don't feel any better or worse on it.
: : : Any idea what this could be?  Could it be Lyme?  At the time this started I had been in the Catskill, NY area several times over that Summer and used to ride horses and hike a lot.  Could this be a reaction to Diflucan?  Nerve Damage?  Any idea at all would be a great help.  No one seems to be able to figure it out and if it's Lyme, they say blood tests are not reliable.
: : : Thanks for taking time to help.  It's very much appreciated.
:   To Kim, I too have been having these exact sx,for about 2 months following antibiotic Levaquin therapy, I have had neuro workup too with Emg showed neuropathy, other tests were negative. How do you live with this I'm going bonkers.

It is not obvious to me what is wrong with you either. However, I think the first step would be to see a neurologist, so at least youhave the chance to be examined. If there is damage to nerves, nerve roots, or any other part of the nervous system (central or peripheral), the neurologist shoudl be able to identify it.
You are welcome to call 800 223-2273 and ask for neurology appointments at extension 4-5559.
I hope this helps. CCF MD mdf.
