Nerve Pain ?

Nerve Pain ?

I am a 61 year old white female.  Exactly l year ago this month ( November ) I had nasal polyp
surgery and ever since I have been bothered with pin pricking sensations all over my body in-
cluding face, neck, arms, etc. and has eventually become worse. I have been seeing an Internist
who has diagnosed this as peripheral neuropathy but has not given me a real reason.  I have had
major blood tests done. My Ferritin level is 7 and the MD has put me on Iron supplement. My
Urine has been tested for  heavy metal, arsenic, sugar, etc. and have all been normal. I have had
nerve conduction studies done which have come back normal with the exception of carpal tunnel
both hands.  I sleep okay at night but occasionally wake up and the symptoms sometimes will
be there.  My feet and hands feel tight, sore and throb.  The bottoms of my feet become very sore.
The MD started me on Lyrica 75 mg. capsules 2 x a day and then upped the dose to 150 mgs.
2 x a day and now my hands, legs, and feet have started to swell. I feel dizzy for the most part
on and off of the Lyrica.  My RBC is 9. Sometimes I feel like there is something biting my face
neck and ears. This is really starting to make me anxious and nervous so I have taken Zanax
2.5 mgs. at times.  I had to stop taking the Lyrica which really did not help that much anyway.
Please give me suggestions.  Should I get a second opinion?  ANY suggetions you may have
will be greatly appreciated.  My daughter has suggested I have an MRI.  Please help....

Sincerely.

Tynee

Hi,
Sorry about your condition.
The surgery underwent by you has no relation with your symptoms. It may be an coincidence that you have noticed this symptoms after the surgery. If lyrica has not helped, then gabapentin can be taken. But before this drug, it would be advisable that you start taking some multivitamin preferably B complex or methylcobalmine preparations.(MECONERV TABLET).

It would be excellent if you can have an second opinion.

THANKS SO MUCH FOR YOUR CORRESPONDENCE.  I WILL TAKE YOUR ADVISE AND START
ON SOME B COMPLEX VITAMIN AND ALSO TRY THE MECONERVE IF THE B COMPLEX DOES
NOT HELP.  IT WOULD BE WONDERFUL TO BE ABLE TO FIX THIS PROBLEM WITHOUT
TAKING ANY TYPE OF NARCOTIC DRUGS.  AGAIN, THANKS SO MUCH FOR LISTENING.
I WILL KEEP YOU UPDATED ON MY STATUS.

Hi,
Feels good to see you heed my advice.
Meconerve is also vitamin preparation and contains predominantly Vitamin B12 and pyridoxine. Apart from this, try to have some relaxation excercises.
