Nerve Root Block

If I get a nerve root block does it exclude pain sources other than at root or would pain in nerves served by that root be relieved.
i.e. if appropriate (L3-4-5 etc) roots were injected would it help pain from a source in the lateral cutaneous nerve.

Theoretically, all nerves served by that root should be blocked. So for instance, an L2-L3 nerve block should cover the lateral femoral cutaneous nerve, but again that's theoretical.  There's no guarantee as we've seen patients who have had no benefit from nerve blocks as well as those who markedly improved afterwards. GOod luck.
