Nerve cut in wisdom teeth removal, can't sing, taste, feel on right hemisphere of tongue

Hi.  I had my wisdom teeth out November 1st.  In the process, a nerve was damaged or severed.  I have had many other problems since, but this is a major concern.  I can't taste on one side, I can't feel anything on my tongue on one side, nor in the mouth on the bottom on the same hemisphere.  The left side is perfectly normal.  Additionally, my tongue has the "freshly burned on hot soup" feeling constantly.  It's enough to keep me up at night.  I'm talking okay now, but it took me a few weeks to be able to innunciate again. But the worst part for me is that I can't sing anymore.  This is, for me, the worst part since I am ALWAYS singing.  But, I can only keep a few notes in tune now, and for someone like me, who has an ear for perfect pitch, that is intolerable.  I can deal with tasting half as much.  I can deal with biting my tongue until it bleeds in the night without knowing it.  I can't handle not singing...

So, what do I do from here?  My endodontist basically said to wait and see if it heals, and has advised me that there is a chance it will never heal.  But I want to do all that I can to encourage it's return.  Where do I go first? With whom should I be consulting this?  I don't know where to turn, but I am unhappy with this outcome.  What kind of questions should I ask?  What sort of doctor do I need?  Is there hope for the return of my vocal ability?

I forgot to mention... I don't think I am creating saliva on that side.  Either that or my feelingless tongue is being interpreted by my brain as being dry all the time.  Obviously my tongue is being interpreted incorrectly somewhere along the line since I can touch my tongue and feel nothing, but it always feels in my mind like my tongue is on fire and dry on one side.  I'm dry-mouthed and thirsty at all times since my surgery.  I am a life long desert dweller and well versed in dehydration.  I drink over a gallon of water a day and never "feel wet" in there anymore on my right side.  Just cotton mouthy.
