Nerve damage at teeth areas #7 and #8

by saf1000, Apr 17, 2009 11:18AM

I live in Palm Springs, Ca.  I am 60 years old.  Forty (40) years ago I was in an auto accident; my face, at my front upper teeth (#7,8,9,10) hit the steering wheel.  I had (insufficient) emergency surgery; I suffered for 40 years.  One year ago I had these teeth extracted and had implants put in at #7,8 and 10.  I also had three implants put in on lower teeth (not involved in accident).  I have had no problems with the lower implants.  The uppers, especially #7 and #8 continue to give me tremendous pain/discomfort problems.  I believe there might be nerve damage. A percussive test leaves me with very severe pain for 48 hours on this #7, #8 area.  I am seeking advice.

I should add that my doctor/dentist/prosthodontist is very educated and competent, so I am not blaming him at all, but simply looking for outside advice.  Additionally, I had a CAT scan done on this area pre-implants which scan did not show any irregularities.

Thank you.
