Nerve damage in back/legs

I am 77 years of age; born with Spina Bifida; doctor who delivered me did not know what it was; sewed hole in my back up.  Had no significant problems except don't touch my back until I was 68 at which time I was diagnosed with a tethered spinal cord; doctor said old damage; had surgery to release spinal cord at age 70.  Since that time have had numbness and various pains, etc. in my left leg.  I have now been diagnosed with nerve damage in my left leg.  Doctors I have been to cannot help me in any way.  Does someone know where I may go to get help?

Hi,
As with any other surgery, complications do arise after back surgeries as well. Numbness, pain and nerve damage may occur after a back surgery.  Physiotherapy and medication may relieve the symptoms upto a certain extent. The damaged nerve may take some time to regenerate. Please take good nutritional supplements of multivitamins, multiminerals, Omega 3 fatty acids and calcium. Please consult a neurologist for further advise. Hope this helps you. Take care and regards!
