Nervous tick in arm

Nervous tick in arm

My mother has been diagnosed with Lou Gehrig's disease.  They are basing it on a "stick" test and MRI and the fact that she has a nervous tick in her arm.  She has been improving since she has stopped taking statin drugs (the problem seemed to start when she began taking them).  Is there any chance the diagnosis is incorrect and that the statin drugs are the culprit?

Hi,

How are you?
Statins are known to cause muscle twitches due to damage to the muscles. It is possible that the nervous tics that your mother is suffering from are due to statins. Also, since they are getting better after stopping the medication.
However nothing can be said for sure without a neurological exam. Please discuss this possibility with her treating doctor.
