My father is about 63 Years, he met with a accident abount 15 yrs back, and L 7 spiral bne got compression fracture, and he is now able to walt ,But he losts the controm of Motion & urine sensation.

The doctors told it got time , request yours suggesstion.

Hi, Thank you fir your question. In slipped disc or disc prolapse conditions symptoms may originate due to nerve root pressure, pressure on the spinal cord and pressure on the tail bone. Common symptoms could be paralysis of muscles, pain radiating to the arms or legs, leg pain and numbness, tingling, or weakness. Warning symptoms can include loss of control of the bladder function, numbness or pain at genital areas, paralysis & spasticity of both the legs. In addition, if you are suffering continuous weakness and notice reduced strength of muscle bulk in leg, please arrange an appointment with a neurologist right away. The doctors need to do an X-ray or scan of your father's lumbar spine again.  When you lose control of urination, that means either the nerves or spinal cord in the lumbar spine are being pushed on or damaged.  Sometimes injuries to the spine many years ago will get worse as a person gets older, due to natural settling of the spine, or perhaps even a new injury, or maybe a disk between one of the vertebral bodies is bulging out.  The doctors can then decide a treatment plan, which may just be physical therapy and a back brace, perhaps, all the way up to surgery, to hopefully take the pressure off whatever nerve or part of the spinal cord that is being affected.  I hope this helps.
