Neurologist Appointment Tomorrow

Hey All,

I have a neuro appointment tomorrow at the University of Pittsburgh.  I have been posting here over the past few months as I am extremely worried about ALS.  I had a clean EMG on November 9th, but am doubting that now.

The doctor I am seeing deals alot more with ALS than my previous neuro.  I hope he can provide me with some peace of mind.  Do you all think my EMG was done too early, considering my symptoms started back in September?

Thanks,

Tony

Thats so nice of you, I have been taking Metanx for 6 days now, you wouldn't believe how great my legs feel.  The nbeuro said that she was going to make these feelings go away, I hope that they continue and improve, its so nice not having these feelings, I felt like a million dollars today.  I( hope god is answering my prayers.  God bless!!!  Jenny

tarrigo - Obviously, something is haywire for you to be experiencing symptoms.  I hope you won't give up on finding some answers.

cat - Yes, sad but true.  And because of the ability of the Lyme bacteria to change its surface proteins, auto-immune disorders are often a result of being infected with Lyme.

I guess the best thing people can do is become educated about Lyme themselves, and NOT by visiting the websites of the CDC, the NIH, or the Infectious Disease Society of America (IDSA).  Those organizations only tell part of the story.

Hi, Truthfinder
Not suprised that PA has a problem with Lyme.
In fact, Lyme disease is an emerging epidemic... also, from the scientific data I have read, global warming is causing a rapid increase in West Nile, Lyme and many other diseases caused by these nasty pathogens.
It's something that needs to be taken seriously, but unfortunately, due to a lot of ignorance in the medical world and our govt, it isn't taken seriously.
I, too, have heard many stories where people were mis-dx'd with MS, ALS, Fybro, RA... and later find out they had Lyme... pretty scary if you ask me.

I just hope this neuro appointment goes well and then I can move on with my life.  I am getting sick and tired of worrying about ALS.

Good luck tomorrow!  I hope you get some answers.

I've read some of your previous posts, and I just want to mention one thing.  There is a doctor in my state who had ALS symptoms and was, in fact, diagnosed with ALS, and given a rather poor prognosis by his physician.

What this doctor "with ALS" found was that he had Lyme Disease, and when he was treated for the Lyme Disease, he got well and is now back practicing medicine!

I don't know where you live, but be advised that in 2005, Pennsylvania had the second highest incidence rate of Lyme Disease in the nation.

So, please do not rule out Lyme or tick-borne diseases as a possible cause for your neurological problems.  Fewer than 50% of people with Lyme Disease ever remember a tick bite or a rash, so don't assume that since you didn't notice a bite that you can't have Lyme Disease (or other TBD).

Well, I just thought I would share this with you.
