Neurologist please - 1/2 of body numbness after bloodwork.

Hello,

About one month ago I was getting my blood drawn in a neurologists' office.  The very nervous girl put the needle in my arm, and I yelped loudly.  I asked if her if she had what she needed.  She said no.  She put it in farther, and I yelped again.  It was painful, and she did not get any blood.  I told her to use the other arm.  She did, and got the blood.  Later that day my arm, and hand became numb.  The next day I felt even more numbness in my arm, and hand (left side).  The next day I also felt numbness on half of my body from head to toe (same side).  I do have MS, but it is a very dormant disease for me.  I let the office know about the numbness within the first week, and then again a few weeks later.  Finally after a month I went to see them, and they put me on solumedrol, which I am on right now.  I am not convinced it was an MS attack a few hours after the needle was put in the wrong, painful place in my arm, however I wouldn't think that would affect half my body either, would it?  Currently I am experiencing loss of a bit of motor skills in that arm, I am weaker in that arm, and I have pain to the touch in that hand.  Like raw skin or something.  Also, I can barely write with that hand, or do things like zip my zipper.  Can a doctor please let me know their thoughts on this?

Thank you,
Dave

Thank you.  Helps a bit.  Are you the patient, or phleb?  Was not sure?

Similar story here, except phleb. was told not to dig for the vein if he didn't get it the first try (patient has autonomic dysfunction and neuropathy, but not in arms).  He didn't comply and similar results as you described.
Might see a different neuro or a med. malp. attorney, who could suggest a neuro who will give an unbiased opinion.  Going back to same office where problem occurred might you run into "defensive" medicine.
