I am seeing a Neurologist and he would like to perform a USEP test and a LSEP test. What are these tests?

Hi there. I understand that the neurologist must have mentioned an SSEP test, which is done to check if spinal cord or nerves are being pinched. This tells about how much the nerve is damaged and if there is a bony spur, herniated disc, or other source of pressure on the spinal cord or nerve roots. Either an electrode is placed over the skin or a needle, or a needle is inserted into the nerve or sensory centre of brain measurements are recorded of how long it takes an electrical signal to travel through the nerve pathway. There are few risks associated with the test. Only a small chance of infection if a needle is inserted into the body. Hope this helps, take care.
