No Xray

I slipped and fell on a wet floor last weekend and have hurt my coccyx..the doctor gave me a physical exam and asked me a variety of questions..he seemed to think i had fractured it and said they dont normally xray as it doesnt change the course of treatment given. Im a little surprised they dont xray though..how do i know if really have fractured it or just badly bruised it? Needless to say i am in a lot of pain and taking both ibuprofen and co-dydramol for it.
