Last April, my symptoms began. (dropping things, tripping, etc)    By May I had numerous tests to include, several mri's of various parts of my neck and back, ct scans and blood work.  I had one dr. tell me, its stress related because of the upcoming year anniversary of my fathers death.  My family for the most part agreed until May 10, 2007.  (Ironically, the day of my fathers death) I was taken to the er.  By the time i got there, I was paralyzed on my right side.  Eventually, I was diagnosed with a brain lesion.  I just finished physical therapy and am doing quite well.  I have most of my strength and muscle control back.  The Dr's have no answers for me.  The most i've been given is  viral or possibly MS.  They seem to lean toward viral.  Everything i find, tells me early MS.  What is your opinion.

Thanks,

Chris

Lyme disease could definately  cause problems like yours, and you live in a lyme endemic state.  I would get an evaluation for this.

A lesion is a very clear sympton of MS, however, it is the type of lesion that must be detrmined in order to detrnine if it is MS. It seems to me if they 'think' it's MS they would test for it and not presume it without thoroughly testing for it. .

Has anyone considered Viral Meningitus or Lyme's Disease as the cause...?

Just hang in there.  I know it's frustrating when a doc says "i dont know"  and then they make u feel like u r crazy.  BUT ONLY U REALLY KNOW YOUR BODY !!!! and if something is wrong.  Be persistant.  I have learned that sometimes i go and try to self diagnose, and when u tell them what u think is wrong, the put blinders on and only test for that!!!  An example...a friend of mine kept telling the doc;s that her back hurt and it husrt when she woudl breath (in her back)  they sent her home 2 times from er stating a muscle pull, her family doc sent her home 2 times also...stating the same.  Finally she went to the er a 3rd time and she was diagnosed with a collapsed lung.  She spent weeks in the hospital ICU and lost part of her lung because of misdiagnosis.  she is fine now, but confused how this could have been missed ofr weeks. So, just be persistant!!!!
Keep me posted

Thanks for your reply!  I have seen several specialsists.  My case was even discussed at Master Grand Rounds which included many Dr's from all over my area.  Some of which i have since seen and were already familar with my case because of grand rounds.  All of which basically say....I do not know.  Have you heard of this sort of thing being viral?  Im hanging on that because it is not likely to return.  The not knowing is terrible.

Thank you

As I was reading your symptoms I immediatly thought ms also.  I know several people who have been diagnosed with ms and they all started with those type of symptoms.
Have you seem a specialist yet?  If not I would would try to locate one that specializes in ms and he would be able to tell you better if it is viral or possibly something else.

good luck
