No feeling from waist down but physically functional

May 9th I had an epidural and experienced crunchiness in my spine as well as pain. I assumed this was normal. Recently, a week ago, my husband and I were having relations in an area we hadn't since my daughter was born and after that night I have had numbness from the point of the epidural and down. I have some sensation on the inside of my legs, but the outside and back portion as well as my waist and private areas are numb. Could this numbness be a result from the epidural due to my peitite size (103 lbs)? or is is possible that I am pinching my siatic (sciatic) nerve?
