Numb fingertips

My husband complains of numb fingertips and sometimes numbness in his right arm....he is a heavy smoker.  I know it is something to do with improper circulation but can anyone offer a complete explanation?  Many thanks

Hi,
There are numerous causes of arm and finger numbness. Some of them are-
Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, Spinal nerves compression, Chronic Inflammatory Demyelinating Polyneuropathy,  Diabetes,  Diabetic Peripheral Neuropathy, Erb's Palsy, Ganglion cyst, Hand neuropathy,  Hyperventilation, Lupus, Olivopontocerebellar Atrophy, Paralytic shellfish poisoning, Peripheral vascular disease, Pernicious anemia, Polyneuritis, Raynaud's phenomenon , Sjogren's Syndrome and brain tumour or cancer. Please go for MRI of the brain, spine, arm and hand and consult a neurologist for diagnosis and treatment.
