Numbness after Sports

Numbness after Sports

I just finished a Half marathon and for the past few hours I have had nubness in my face and hands, similar to those symptoms of a panic attack. Problem is I am fully relaxed to the point I took a nap and upon waking my hands and face are still tingeling. Any thoughts?

Hello.

First of all, I congratulate you for completing the Half Marathon successfully.

Your symptoms are due to electrolyte deficiency. While running, you probably had a lot of sweating, and not enough of salt replacement. Take a quick drink rich in salts, and take one more after about an hour. You will feel better.

Sodium and potassium are important electrolytes which help in nerve signal transmission. When there is any imbalance in the levels of sodium and potassium, you get the tingling and numbness.

Do not worry. Get back to this forum if your symptoms persist.

Regards
