Numbness and tightness on left side after vp shunt revision

Numbness and tightness on left side after vp shunt revision

After a shunt revision in 2007, my whole left side has been numb and with a tingling and tight feeling that is constantly there.  Since then, I've had 3 revisions and the numbness has not gone away.  Prior to 2007, I had a shunt for nearly 25 years with no problems.  My QUESTION is:  will this numbness ever go away?  This numbness prevents me from doing things I use to do such as art, running, and  multi-tasking.  I had to retire from 36 years of teaching Math because I could not perform all that is required of a teacher.  The doctor says time will tell.    If this numbness does not go away, is there anything I can do to live a more quality life?  Is there a medicine that may relieve the numbness?  I've tried lyrica, but it has not relieved me.
