Numbness in left arm when sleeping only

for the past 2months i have been waking up in the middle of the night and my left arm is always numb and have slight chest pain. my arm will feel weak for a while after i wake. what can be causing this?I have a heart murmur and i am 20 pounds over weight right now which i gained from my last pregnancy.it also happens when i drink which isn't often.i get really bad headaches and neck pain.about 4months ago i went to mexico to see a doctor cuz i thought i had thyroid problems cuz i sometimes get a pain in my throat. he said i was too young and told me not to eat after 6pm.he told me only to eat at6am,10am,2pm,and6p.i have tried it off and on and the numbness goes away what is wrong with me?

You should inform your doctor about the chest pain. You have not stated your age, but you are overweight and have a heart murmur, and I would want to make sure the pain is not from the heart. If the pain is neurologic this could represent either a nerve compression in your arm, or possibly a "pinched nerve in your neck". Carpel tunnel syndrome can present with spells occurring from sleep with numbness, tingling, and weakness in the hand, and pain radiating up the arm. It would be reasonable to discuss this with your doctor, and then consider seeing a neurologist. Good luck.
