Numbness on right side of face

Numbness on right side of face

One day I just started having partial numbness (a feeling like novacaine) on the right side of my upper lip and then a couple of days later it progressed to my right cheek just before reaching the ear. I have absolutely no pain, no fatigue, no weakness, no other changes. I workout regularly and hard so I know I still have a lot of stamina. It has been a month and it still has not gone away. Sometimes it seems like the area calms down and other times it feels even more numb and occ my teeth has a tightness and gums on right side get numb. I do grind my teeth daily and went to a TMJ Specialist who said there are  3 nerves on the face in that area and it could be from the grinding. I have grinded my teeth for 20 yrs but I have always been bad about using a night guard. The Dr also wanted to rule out a brain tumor and I had a Brain MRI and CT scan. The MRI was normal  and CT scan showed moderate osteoarthritis on the right side of the jaw area. The Dr said it appeared I might have a small spur in that area of the nerve.  He was puzzled that I have no pain though.   I have been under a lot of stress at work and have been grinding much worse than usual especially when he said he wanted to rule out a brain tumour. He gave me muscle relaxers to take at night, and Prendisone to try to relax some of the grinding. I have tried all of this and I am still numb in this area. Now I am getting scared. Sometimes it feels like the numbness is starting to travel further on my lip or more of my right side of the face.  I have been told stress can do strange things to one's nerves. My teeth also started to get sensitive so I went to my dentist and he noticed my bite was off slightly and corrected and noticed I must grind my teeth tremendously, in fact, he said it was a wonder I havent shattered my teeth with such force of my grinding. I happened to tell the dentist of my numbness and amazingly he said he had the same thing happen to him. He almost lost his child and went thru so much stress he said he started with numbness in the face then it travelled to the arms, hands, and then said he lost complete feeling in his legs and feet for a while. He  was convinced he had something seriously wrong with him and said there are about 72 diseases with numbness. He had 7 MRI's and they all came back normal.  He said he started having anxiety attacks over the "what if", eventually he was told it was stress. Eventually he said the numbness subsided after he stopped worrying about it. Luckily, this has all been in my face but I am starting to get anxiety attacks with the thoughts of horrible diseases. I do seem to get more numb when I am under more stress or more panicky. A part of me thinks I am ok because I am not dizzy, not losing my balance, no weakness, etc but then my mind starts going crazy because I still have the numbness and its not going away. . Have you heard of other people going through this and can stress really play these tricks on ones nervous system.   I know when the doctor told me he wanted to rule out a brain tumour for those 10 days of waiting on my next appointment I thought I was going to lose my mind so that stress was extreme. Help.  the unknown is driving me crazy
