Numbness

by Texmissy, Mar 03, 2007 12:00AM
I have numbness and tingling in my feet and hands. In fact my feet stay a few degrees cooler than the rest of my body..even if I have been wearing socks all day, they are ice cold to the touch.I also have Cystisis. I ve been getting bouts of nausea and feeling fatigued. This has been going on for years. My doctor said the fatigue can be related to Cystitis...but what are the causes for numbness and tingling in extremities?? It seems to be getting worse as I get older. I am only 23 and don't feel this is normal...Any input would be appreciated.

I've had a couple of episodes of numbness in the extremities over the years. I was told mine were due to hyperventilation, which is a very common cause of it. Without realizing it, I sometimes breathe a little faster than I should (which can be caused by stress or anxiety) and it messes up the oxygen/CO2 balance, which can cause this sensation. Because your feet always feel so cold, you should google Raynaud's Phenomenon (which I think is fairly uncommon). I don't really know what cystitis is, so I don't know if that's related.

Hi and I'm sorry you are feeling lousy...hang in there and continue to read and search for answers.

Numzy offered good advise, and I can offer this:

I have similiar numbness and feelings of cold extremities too..

You might want to consider Googling Lyme and reading about how symptoms can wax and wane...very typical!

BTW, I never remember a "tick bite or rash", and I am currently treating with antibiotics and am feeling better!

Best to  you,
tory

Hi!

As with all of the others, sorry to hear about your health issues.

I want to suggest that you see your doctor and ask for a referral to see a Neurologist. VERY IMPORTANT !!!! The coldness can be something minor, but the numbness should be looked into.

After the specialist sees you, he/she may suggest an MRI scan. It is a fantastic machine that can rule out or find what is going on inside you. (It's not an ex-ray, and it doesn't hurt at all.)

I had my own health issues, and was told by my family doctor that I suffered from 'stress'. It ended up being something else. Thanks to the MRI scan they found my problem. I could kiss the person that invented that thing !!!!!

Take care. Best of luck.
Anne
