Nymox test

My father has been diagnosed as having Alzheimer's Disease.  I have no question that the diagnosis is true.  I am curious about one of the tests that had been run.  Is the AD7C test experimental?  Is it widely used to aid in the diagnosis of AD? Thanks.

I see that it has been a month since your post, and no one has answered. I personally am not aware of the test you reported.
Diagnosis of dementia (progressive loss of cognitive function)is usually not just a matter of a blood test. Alzheimer's disease is the most common form of dementia, but there are other causes. Typically, blood tests are ordered in patients with dementia not so much to prove that it's Alzheimers, but rather to look for other things it might be that could be potentially treatable.
There is a correlation between apolipoprotein E4 and Alzheimer's. Perhaps the test you mentioned has something to do with that. If you remain curious, perhaps you could give some context information and maybe I or another neurologist could try answering your question again.
(Because this is such an old message, buried deep in the chain, I suggest you submit a new post rather than a reply to this one).
I hope this helps. CCF MD mdf.
