OCD effect

Dear sir:

2 years ago ,You had replied me about my sisters problem OCD. As per your suggestion, she consulted the doctor and got treatment for OCD for 1 and half year.

While on treatment she could not study well ,failed in many subjects,(B.Sc(pcm) ).Now she is out of college ,but many subjects are not passed ,. She is feeling very difficult to just pass.

Earlier ,upto 7th standard ,she used to get 90+ marks.

I have seen, she has exellent memory of all things happend before., execpt she cant keep her study subject matters in memory.

Could you give me what is the problem.

I'm not an expert, but some medicines for OCD are designed to lower the person's tendency to overly focus on various things.  Obsessing is weakened by the drugs, which is a good thing for people with OCD.  But when that same person tries to do their schoolwork, for example, it's therefore harder to concentrate.  Of course, that's the whole point of taking medication for that disorder.  But under NO circumstances should she get off the meds just to get thru school.  There are ways to learn whilst on the OCD meds.

She can get a tutor to help her with the subjects she did not pass, if necessary.  Teachers can direct her to study aides like extra books and guides to help her retain the information.  Rote learning is sometimes needed, where you practice something over and over until the information "sticks."  She can also read out loud everything she studies.  She is used to learning easily, but now she will need to change the way she learns, it will take her more time to learn things, but she will indeed eventually pass her subjects with a lot of effort.

Back at the turn of last century, U.S. President Woodrow Wilson had dyslexia.  This is where the letters of a word are turned around backwards and upside down, every which way, and so you can imagine how hard it would be to learn things like that.  If you will write down a sentence on a piece of paper and hold it in front of a mirror and upside down, that's a little what dyslexia is like.  Hard to memorize and read.  But he became President of the U.S., a very well-educated and thoughtful man.  So, if he can memorize and learn, so can your sister.  It just takes a variety of approaches, practice and effort.
