Occipital Nerve & C Spine trauma....

by Phillz, Oct 08, 2008 07:02PM
To ask a question I must tell you what happened.

About 5 years ago I gave my brother a kidney, everything went well then about weeks after coming home I fell down our steps and was knocked out. When I woke up I felt as if I was going to get sick, I also could not stand or walk right, but I felt I would be okay. Within a day I was hit with extreme pain in my neck and head. Calling them head aches does not do them justice. When I had slipped I hit those 2 boney bumps on the edge of the top step with full force. I then tumbled down the stairs and caught my neck between the banisters. No one has been able to give me a definitive diagnosis on what is wrong other than I suffer from head aches that are genetic. Well, no one in our family history suffers from them. There was this one Doctor, Dr. Farber, he said that my Occipital Nerve was injured and grew into a knot/ball I really don't remember but he had said in front of my Father that it was rare and that many Doctors will not or won't want to treat me. As of now I am not receiving any treatment. I was getting Occipital Nerve blocks and was on medication and I found that Osteopathic treatment helps as well. But it had taken 4 years to find a treatment that works that well. The Pain Management dropped me saying that I need long term care and gave me a list of Doctors to call. But the tragic thing is I have Keystone Mercy and cannot get any Doctor. My family Doctor just took away my Oxygen saying I didn't need it and for me to take a Tylenol for the pain.

My question is, is there any surgery or treatment that I would be able to get. When I was on the Oxygen, Osteopath, Occipital Nerve blocks and on Oxycontin, I was able to work and go out on dates and just live life. Now I don't get off the couch and the photophobia has come back. All because no one takes Keystone Mercy and I had one Doctor who did take it say that due to the new laws he would have to see me every month and he just was too busy doing the blocks for other patience. Every time I call I say everything, I am on Keystone Mercy, I injured my Occipital Nerve and I need Occipital Nerve Blocks on both sides and meds. They say yes I get an appointment weeks if not months later and then they say sorry we cant help.

Any help or info would be a life saver.
