Occipital Neuralgia with a Variant Migrain

Posted By Amy Baxter on August 03, 1998 at 18:03:54:

Two years ago I was diagnosed with "Occipital Neuralgia with some type of maigrain variant.  During the course of the last two years I have had probably 10 to 15 Occipital Nerve Blocks (two of them with cortizone), Trigger point injections, and a pharamacy of medications.  The nerve blocks worked at first.  After a block my pain would go away almost instantly, but after the first few, they only lasted about 10 days.  I was sent to Denver to see a Dr. Chris Obrien who gave me a BoTox injection in the same spot as my previous injections.  This was a God send.  I was headache free for about 5 months (had an occasional migrain, but nothing Excedrin wouldn't take care of).  I had another BoTox about 3 months ago and have been doing wonderful.  I am writing this to see if there has been anyone else who has had this procedure for this type of headache and if they have had the same results or could recommend anything else that would have longer effects.
