Oestoma

Oestoma

A year ago a dermatologist diagnosed my small head bump as a cyst and referred me to a general surgeon.  He cut it open to remove it only to discover it is bone.  He diagnosed it as an osteoid oestoma.  He stitched me back up without doing anything.  I don't understand why he called it an osteoid oestoma and not just an oestoma.  From what I've read, osteoid oestomas typically mean pain at night and usually in the leg.  At the time I had zero pain.  This week my scalp has started to hurt and feel tender around the oestoma.  is this from the oestoma itself?  Why?  Is it pushing on nerves?  It is very tiny, I don't know the exact measurement but much smaller than a dime.  I wish the dr had done xrays/cat scan of it.  I feel nervous.  When I told my regular Dr how the plastic surgeon described how he could cut it out she was shocked and acted like she wouldn't want me to have a plastic surgeon do this.  Is this something a nuerologist would discuss with me or is a plastic surgeon correct?  And was he incorrect to use the term osteoid?
