Onset of headaches

Onset of headaches

My husband started having headaches about three weeks ago. Always in the same spot.. right side just above the occipital bone. They leave as fast as they come. Sometimes within minutes, other times a few hours. He says when his head is hurting it gets worse when he turns his head to either side, but the pain is still only in that localized area, not down his neck as in tension. He has no history of headaches and rarely gets one, save the ocassional hangover.. to be honest.

He went our GP and it was just brushed off and he was told to take ibuprophen and prescribed a steriod. If it continues through the weekend, I am taking him to the ER in hopes of getting a CT just to put our minds at ease, but now my mind won't shut off..wondering was is it! Is it a pinched nerve?? Wouldn't he have pain in his neck if so? His mother had a brain tumor in her 30's.. how often is this hereditary? I don't have any specifics on what kind of tumor she had. I am terrified and trying to remain calm and not jump to conclusions, you know, since I am not a doctor. ;-) But I am very scared.
