MRI normal, no vessels touching either nerve. Thin slice MRI done at Mass General. Neuro says not TN.
Two months later, present day. Pain still in teeth, changes sides and locations. Mild pain, aching to sometimes shooting.
Currently taking Tegretol, weaning off, at 400 mg a day. (Not sure if it ever helped!)
Nortryptiline 25 mg at bedtime
Baclofen 10 mg at night
TMJ, heavy night grinder, disturbing dreams at night. : ( I always wear nightguard, even during day. However, during 5 weeks of teeth pain, did NOT wear night guard! Am now wearing nightguard for last 2 weeks.
My dentist cleared me of any teeth problems. I did experience serious emotional trauma before the sudden headache and eventual tooth pain.
Nobody can explain what is happening to me. What could have caused the sudden onset of teeth pain and have it spread to the other side? My whole set of teeth is one big symphony of throbs and pains.
My headaches have subsided, probably because the pain is diminishing. PLEASE give me thoughts on what you think is happening to me. I had a life before this, a really nice one, and I'd like to resume it.
I had a dental cleaning two weeks prior, but my neuro and dentist said that would not cause this pain.
Thanks for writing in.
Since dental causes and neurological causes have been excluded, the only possibility that comes to mind is TMJ which can cause severe tooth ache due to malocclusion.
I would suggest you to seek a second opinion with a dentist as you may need to undergo surgery to fix the malocclusion if it is there.
Take care!
