PLEASE Dr Answer. :-)

by aiMelissa, Aug 25, 2008 06:35PM
I have NO idea what is wrong with me, neither do my doctors.  My last post was ignored so I will just give you the cliff notes version.  Since May I have had some funky neurological symptoms that are just getting worse.

I have pain, tingliness, numbness, and burning throughout my body.  And sharp jolts of pain.

I "officially" have "parasthesias, opthoclonus, myoclonic jerks, and paraneoplastic reflexes."  My brain MRI's were normal, my spinal tap showed a ICP of 20 and slightly elevated IgG (0.69).  Lupus, lyme's disease, V b12 def have all been ruled out, as have some others.  I had CT's of my chest, abdomen, and pelvis today.

WHAT is "parasthesias, opthoclonus, myoclonic jerks, and paraneoplastic reflexes"?  What is wrong with me?  Do I have cancer?  I know you can't tell me by reading this very condensed summary but what are the possibilities.  In addition to all this I have an autoimmune liver disease called primary sclerosing cholangitis that was dx last year but I've been sick and in pain for years.

I looked too and found the same references to cancer that frightened you so much.  Perhaps the doctor is just using that as a generic term ...

This section from Mayo clinic will walk you through the discssion if you haven't already seen this.

Definition
Paraneoplastic syndromes are a group of rare disorders that develop in some people with cancer, most commonly in people with lung, breast or ovarian cancer. The term "paraneoplastic" means the disorder isn't directly caused by a cancerous tumor, or by its spread to other organs or tissues (metastases). Instead, paraneoplastic syndromes are a result of your body's reaction to the presence of cancer or to substances the tumor produces.

Dear Melissa, I understand how desperate you are to know what is wrong with you, but sometimes doctors don't have all the answers to our problems. I would suggest you contact a colonic hydrotherapist in your area and schedule a series of colonics, maybe once a day for five days. You see melissa, health begins in the colon, and if the colon is clogged you will never feel your best. Once you have no contraindidations to this simple pocedure you can have it done. You should also invest in a good juicer and immediately start juicing your vegetables and fruits. Try drinking at least four glasses of vegetable juice  and fruit juice a day . These juices should be freshly prepared . Do not juice them in advance, they will lose their antioxidant properties and you will not benefit much from them. You can also take vitamin b6  which helps to relieve nerve pain. dont panic, try to relax and please take my advice, you have nothing to lose. Good luck, I will be following your case so please continue to wtite.

i am sorry that you are suffering like this and no one knows why. sounds like they are 'working you up' pretty thoroughly.

i can only wish you good luck and urge you to stick with orthodox medical procedures. this is not the time to choose alternative methods, i would not think.
