Pain and numbness on left side of body

Hello, I hope you can help me. I'm a 55 yr-old female. I've been experiencing numbness in my hands for the last 3 months which I feel may be carpal tunnel syndrom but recently my left leg and hip have also been giving me painful and strange symptoms. I'm having a hard time walking on my left leg as my hip felt like it was going out or the joint was deteriorating. I've been walking on it very exaggeratedly. I feel like I need crutches. I had it xrayed and the joint looks fine without arthritis. My left outer thigh has been going numb (sometimes painfully) for about 5 years. I figured it was a compliction of knee surgery as I had a TKR 11 years ago and have just lived with it. But recently my left foot has also been painful. The arch felt like it was breaking and my second and third toes are completely numb. I went to see a podiatrist and arch supports were made. Xrays showed arthritis forming in some of the bones and the main nerve was over jagged bones??? Now the bottom of my foot is also numb!

Then finally my knee doctor suspected back problems or sciatica as I was in a car accident 6 years ago and compression fractured T10 and 12??

On the other hand it is quite possible to have two or even more seperate nerve entrapment problems as seems to be the case with me.

With neurological problems in both your upper extremities and your lower extremities you need to have your brain and your upper (cervical) spine imaged with an MRI.  If you haven't have a thorough neuro evaluation, you need one.  The problem in you hands may be carpal tunnel, but why assume two separate problems when there are similar things going on with your legs?

Someone needs to look at you head to toe, instead of focusing a possible diagnosis for each ailing body part.  Get thyself checked!
