Pain in Upper Arm

Hi,

I am a 37 year old female. I have had pain in my arm for more than a week now. In my mind, I think it began with a crik in my neck and then migrated to my right arm. Since then the crik is gone and my arm – more specifically my upper arm has been hurting. Shovelling all the snow we have been getting may have aggravated to the situation, but I am certain that it did not trigger it.

My upper arm hurts and seems like it is all bunched up – by the end of the day, my entire arm is hurting and stiff. It hurts when it is left hanging down or raised up and I have been having trouble sleeping since I cannot really find a position in which I am comfortable.

What could it be?? Do I need physio or something like that?

Hello.

There is a possibility of a shoveler's injury. You will need to consult an orthopedic surgeon to rule it out.

There is a also a possibility of cervical disc bulging. Please consult a neurologist. A detailed neurological examination is needed.

Just wanted to say, I have been having the exact problem.  Some neck pain and arm pain.  I have problems finding a comfortable sleeping position....arm hurts up or down. I took 800 mgs. of Ibuprofen and that helped a bit.  Have you found out anything helpful?  Thanks! Dolly
