So its apparently been 10 years since you asked this question, with no reply. Im having a similar issue. When I get out of a hit shower my knees are painful and stiff when I bend them. Did you ever get any answers?

Hot* shower
Hi AcousticKitty.  You know what is odd about that? Hot water most often helps with joints making them less stiff and painful.  Heat therapy is often used.  Is your knee swollen at all at this time (after getting out of the shower?)?  The closest thing I could find is if you think of your knee joints like a door.  In cold weather, it shrinks.  In hot weather, it expands.  I wonder if you are not having that kind of reaction with your knee joint.  https://www.osgpc.com/warm-weather-joint-pain/

And while hot water therapy is common for arthritis, for some with arthritis, they find showers uncomfortable.  ??  Do you think you have arthritis? For some people, they really do react to either cold or hot.  So, I'd ask your doctor about arthritis?
