Pain in left side

I seem to have this pain in my left side a little above the crotch area to the left where the bladder and colon is. I am 18 and have had this tightining feeling their for a little less than a year. It sometimes seems to get tighter on other days and then it seems to hurt less. Do you have any ideas what this could be? I do not have any other symptons at all. However, I do seem to feel dizzy frequently, but I think that is unrelated. I am around 35 pounds overweight and was wondering if that could play a part in it such as pressure being put on the large intestine. Any information would be helpful:)

Dear Jason:

Sorry that your having problems.  Persistent pain should be checked out by your physician.  There are many things this might be, from infection to a mass of some kind.  Without more information it is difficult to tell you anything.  It is not in a typical place where a nerve entrapment takes place.  So, your weight, although a risk factor for many things healthwise, is likely not a primary reason for your current complaint.  Please, go see your primary physician.
