Pain in lower leg

I have pain in my lower inside left leg just above the ankle. It is stabbing, intermittent and sometimes just constant ache. No pain relief takes it away (i.e., ibuprofen, tylenol). It seems to feel better immediately after rubbing on it for a minute or two. About 4 months ago, I had a case of shingles around the area of my rib cage. I really haven't had any pain elsewhere except for "old age" pain that I've had already. Could this be latent pain the singles?
