Pain under the breast

Dr.
I recently had a breast lift and augmentation 2 weeks ago and have
noticed a nerve extending from the bottom of my left breast when I lift
my arm up over my head and it seems to extend down toward my abdomen.
This is causing me some pain and concern. Did the implant get put in
the wrong area? is this a nerve or ligament? Can you help?

Dear Roxann:
It is difficult to tell you what is extending from the breast area.  Usually the nerve would have resolved into dead tissue by this point and not be present if the surgeon cut it and left it hanging (?).  I would not think that this is what your seeing.  Was the incision site in this area?  If so, I would think that this is probably a stitch that was left.  You probably should contact the plastic surgeon and tell him/her what you are seeing and have it looked at.  I wouldn't think that this is something serious.

for replying to my post . I went to the plastic surgery
and was told it was a blood vessel, that the implants were
settleing and was putting pressure on the vessel and that it would subside
with time, He also said it was very common....and not to worry. !?!?
I will be seeing my surgeon again in two weeks.

P.S. I do want to add that I am still concern because the
vessel is stretched tight and painful and is very
uncomfortable to wear a bra.and will see the doctor sooner if there
is no improvment.

I hope that your surgeon is correct and it is just a vessel.  Most likely, he is correct and it will resolve.  That really doesn't help the current pain your feeling.  The best thing about vessels is that the body will adapt and make new ones where needed and resorb the aberrant ones.  If the pain persists, I would let him/her know.  I guess you will have to live without a bra for awhile.
