Pain when extending arm

by kpreo, Feb 13, 2009 10:09PM
I am a 24 year old female and recently have had a tingly, shooting pain in my lower arm whenever I extend my right arm out. The pain is above my wrist on the thumb side, and only shoots about 2-3 inches up my arm. The skin over the area sometimes feels slightly numb. If I push on the inside of my elbow, the pain shoots and is much worse. As far as arm use, I am right handed, have played piano since I was 7, use the computer alot, and teach band, so I am using my arms to conduct and to hold a variety of instruments. I first noticed the pain when I was playing clarinet--all of the instrument's weight rests about the right thumb. Please give me any indication of what could be wrong. Pinched nerve?? I haven't seen any links to carpal tunnel syndrome. I did purchase a brace, but I am not sure if it is helping at all  yet. Thank you!
