Painful EEG

Painful EEG

January 7 I had an EEG that was the most painful thing that was ever done to me. The lights were so bright that it made my eyes roll downward in my eye sockets and my left leg jerk terribly. I could not control it. Also the noises in my ears were extremely loud, enough to startle me. I have had a severe headache since then & Tylenol does not help, which is all I'm allowed to take because of my medications. Has anyone had the same experiences as I have? Any suggestions for the headache? I don't see the neuro until Feb. 25 and my primary hasn't been much help either. Thanks for your help!!

Im sorry to hear that your EEG was as uncomfortable as it was. I have had Epilepsy for over 35 yrs and have had countless EEGs. Never in over 35 yrs of having these done, have i experienced what you have described. It defintley would have scared me too if i would have been thru that. I also take meds for my Epilepsy so i know what you mean about the conflict in pain meds. But there is something you may be able to take. Its worth looking into. If you can, ask your doctor about a medication for migranes (migraines) called Maxalt. its specifically for migranes (migraines) and works like a charm. hope you feel better soon.

Thank you for that suggestion about Maxalt. I've never heard of it before. I will do some looking into it and discuss this with my neuro when I go back. Again, thank you. When they did the EEG they connected me not just on the head, but also the ears, face, legs, chest, and arms. I've never had it done that way before. It was certainly different, to say the least.
