Paralytic Experience

Paralytic Experience

Hi, I am concerned about a recent bad experience I had after smoking marijuana. I am a casual drinker and smoker and never do either excessively. Yesterday after drinking a fair amount of rye I took a hit of marijuana and within about 2 minutes I basically became paralyzed. I lost control of my muscles, I lost my sight, but I could still hear. This experience really scared me and I am seeking medical advice. My friends who also had some of the marijuana were fine so it couldn't of been laced with LSD or something toxic like that. The paralyzing experience was over about as fast as it came, it lasted maybe 1-2 minutes. I have never heard of this kind of a reaction before. I have decided that was the last time I'm ever smoking weed, but I still want to know what happened.
Thanks.

I can take a wild guess, used to smoke many years ago.  It has been proven that time really is relative...you know how people who are in danger say everything goes in slow motion?  Studies show that this really happens, the heart and other parts of the body actually work differently and time really does pass slower, it is a survival mechanism, a fairly recent study.  Well, weed does this, too.

Usually when smoking, the heart rate and body chemistry undergoes changes, you go into a sort of dreamy state.  I believe what happened to you is, you REALLY got drugged, especially with that jolt of rye knocking you back, and you felt like you couldn't move and see.  Your body was super heavy-feeling and your eyes may have closed but you just didn't register that they were shut because you were in slo-mo.  They don't call it dope for nothing.

I'm sorry it scared you so much, and I have no idea why it bit you that way, on one particular day.  Me, after I was in a car wreck, I became quite anxious, and got to where I could only smoke with one trusted person in a specific environment, otherwise I didn't smoke.  There are plenty of people who cannot manage marijuana, probably the way some people's bodies are set up.

Anyhow, that's generally what I believe happened to you.  You were about to pass out and just couldn't make any sense of it because of physical reaction, the altered awareness state, the slowing down of time.
