Hello Mary,
The treatment of Parkinson's disease is very individualized from patient to patient. The strategey of which medications to use
can also vary from one expert to another. The standard medications used in Parkinson's disease are helpful in treating the
slowness of movement as well as with problems of rigidity. The newer medications that are due to be coming out soon maybe
helpful to you in achieving the desired effect while minimizing the potential side effects. You should have a discussion with your
neurologist so that she or he can explain the treatment strategey to you so that you can be more clear of the goals from the
therapy as well as other potential therapies. Good luck!
