Hi,
How are you feeling now? Is the pain still there?
Pain in groin area post surgery is common. But in groin area post-surgery after 5 years is uncommon, but possible. Nerve entrapment is a complication of hernia repair. The nerve Ilio-ingunal is safe guarded during the procedure, but if there is entrapment, it could result in pain, numbness as you are experiencing now.
I think you should consult your surgeon again and get a reference for neurologist.
Hope this helps you.
Bye.
