I have been diagnosed with Bell's palsy, which is only about 10% recovered after 3 months. My Dr. ordered an MRI and found scattered white matter lesions (on the T2 spin echo and FLAIR sequences there are scattered long T2 hyperintense punctuate signal changes noted in the bilateral frontal subcortical white matter). I am a 30 yo female in otherwise good health. I have B12 deficiency diagnosed about 3 yrs ago. My Dr does not feel as though these lesions are due to MS, and says there are a variety of causes for them. She has ordered a multitude of tests including blood work , lumbar puncture and a VER/BAER test. Should I be worried? Could these lesions be from previously damaged areas before the B12 deficiency was diagnosed?
